Weekly Challenge #165 (Happyyyyyy)

Hello everyone! I missed last week's challenge but am back for more!
This week I gained inspiration from the diva's challenge by using a brand new tangle brought to us by tangler Anne Mark!  Anne's tangle, Camelia, is a structured yet swirly pattern.  To me, this tangle is cheerful, like a pattern reminder of all the good things that have been happening lately!  Therefore, I also gained inspiration from Pharrell William's hit song, "Happy" (if you haven't heard it yet, below is your chance!). Thank you Anne for your awesome tangle!
Also, I have some news for this week!
  1. I received my first conditional job offer from Washington State Patrol! Fingers crossed as I continue the application process (yes, its never-ending ha)
  2. My senior capstone art show opened this week and it was a mega success
  3. I finally updated my online art portfolio and you can find my most recent body of work at Behance.net
  4. I discovered an AMAZING outa-this-world artist named Alex Konahin that all you tanglers will totally love! See his work here.
  5. Also, I have had so many blessings lately, one being a soon-to-be new addition to my family. We aren't sure what to name him yet but isn't he cute?
May all of you have a wonderful week! Thank you for reading! :)

Weekly Challenge #163 (Doctor's Orders)

Hello all! Thanks for checking out my weekly entry for the "i am the diva" challenge
This week I decided to pair the new tangle "Rixty" with motivational quotes. I love quotes, but not the serious kind...I like the Dr. Seuss zany-yet-oh-so-wise-and-encouraging kind. Therefore I visited one of my favorite Dr. Seuss quote hubs and incorporated them in. If you can't read them, they are:
  • Fantasy is a necessary ingredient...
  • You are you! Now isn't that pleasant?
  • YOU'RE IN PRETTY GOOD SHAPE FOR THE SHAPE YOU ARE IN.
  • Today you are you. That is truer than true. No one alive is youer than YOU.
This is just a tiny sampling of the many great quotes of Dr. Seuss. I am always looking for an upbeat reminder for why am a completely blessed individual. Right now, things have been crazy with school and graduating and shows and applications and moving prep, but I know that sometimes I need to step back and remember why I am one lucky duck. As the wise doctor says:
YOU'RE OFF TO GREAT PLACES! TODAY IS YOUR DAY! YOUR MOUNTAIN IS WAITING, SO GET ON YOUR WAY!
Here's my picture ode to this week:
brownies for a get together!

Mojito pouting

the rare and elusive sunny day in Tacoma, WA
THAT'S ALL FOLKS! Have a fantastic week :)

Weekly Challenge #162 (So.Much.ART.)

Wow what a week this has been! Happy April all!
This week's challenge was to use your initials as a string, so here's my KM:
I decided that my "initials tile" ought to include some of my favorite tangle patterns, so I featured a few of my go-to's. Possibly my most used pattern is "Munchin." I don't always use this tangle on smaller tiles but it is actually featured on EVERY one of my larger lithographs. Something about those pointy angles just calls to me I suppose.
And now...drum roll...here are some of the pieces featured in my art show this week!:
"Behind Closed Doors"
Lithograph w/ Metallic Pigment, 22" x 30"
"The Razor's Edge," Lithograph, 22" x 33"
"Mirror, Mirror"
Lithograph w/ Metallic Pigment, 22.5" x 33"
My art show, "The Odd & The Imperfect," went up Friday, April 4th, and the opening was an amazing turnout. I have had overwhelming support from family and friends, and I am lucky enough to have FOUR of my pieces sold!  What a fantastic honor :)  The show runs through April 11 and then the pieces will be moved to my university's gallery for the PLU senior showcase.  I will keep you all updated and show more pieces next week! Have a dandy start to your April!
