Weekly Challenge #152 (New challenges)

Hello all! This is going to be a short blog for the week because it's been BUSY! Never too busy for a little diva de-stress though :)
This week I opted for a rough sketch version using just a pencil, apprentice pen, and sepia pen! I like the new tangle, "aquafleur," and it's fun, fluid style makes it a versatile addition to any ZIA. Sometimes I get a little lost in the tangle and don't know which direction to go, but eventually I find my way and very much like the outcome.
In other news, I'm a busy woman! Each week in January has involved some kind of testing. Specifically, testing for my current pursuit of becoming a Washington state police officer...we will see about that. It's tough!
I hope you all have a fabulous week! Keep calm and make art!

Weekly Challenge #151 (awareness and activity)

HELLO lovely people! And welcome to another weekly challenge hosted by the wonderful
This week's challenge is about spreading awareness for Moebius Syndrome:
And from Shelly McEvilly:
Moebius Syndrome is a rare neurological condition and it is important for people to learn about and understand the disorder since most are unaware of its existence. There can be misconceptions when meeting someone with this syndrome and educating yourself about it may bring about more positive awareness and association.  It's not easy being different and this week's challenge introduces critical information for myself and the public!  For more info, I would google "Moebius Syndrome" or check out
I don't have TOO much else to discuss, but I am very excited about the workshop I attended this weekend at my CrossFit gym.  This workshop, The Movement Fix, taught me all about body awareness, joint stability and mobility, and stretches for improving strength and flexibility. It was a fun way to come together with my CrossFit family and also to meet visitors from outside the gym.
Here's the whole group:
Also, I revisited a little Zumba with my housemates and had a great time! I used to teach and definitely miss the rush of dancing like a wild child ;)
May all of you have an enlightening and exercise filled week!

Weekly Challenge #150 (Ways to flourish in 2014)

Well this week got me thinking.  What do I want from 2014? And how do I sum it up in one simple word? Here's what I came up with:
This week's "i am the diva" challenge discussed the significance of a word.  One word that can give meaning and potential for the new year. My word is FLOURISH.

To FLOURISH is to: (verb) grow or develop in a healthy or vigorous way, especially as the result of a particularly favorable environment.

With the new year already underway, a LOT of changes/accomplishments will be made this year, like:
1.  I will be graduating from Pacific Lutheran University
2.  I will be starting a new job
3.  I will be moving somewhere new (either close or far)
4.  I will have to choose my life direction...

(those are just the biggies but I'm sure there are more)

Because of these life events, I know that flourishing will be a challenge.  I am nervous, excited, gung ho, frightened, determined, and a whole lot of other words tangled up in one body.  This week's challenge is more than picking a word. For me, it's choosing a goal.  A goal to keep my head up even when things get tough.  I will create my favorable environment and I will grow in my wisdom, experience, and personal strength.  2014 won't be easy, but maybe with a little extra effort and a pinch of luck, I'll flourish and have one of my best years yet.
And here's a last minute addition to this week's blog, but I felt that it was much needed!
Here is my mom's word for the year: "HEALTHY" (Shelly McEvilly, CZT)
May you all flourish and have a HEALTHY 2014 :)

Weekly Challenge #149 (WELCOME TO 2014!)

I've missed you all while I've been away on vacation but it's time to get back to work.
This week's challenge is in honor of 2014:
And here is my lovely mother's tile! (Shelly McEvilly, CZT)
This was a fun weekly challenge that had limitless possibilities!  Just like the new year :)
However, I decided I'd post a recap of the END of the last one.  Check out what happened at the end of 2013...
I celebrate Christmas with my family and boyfriend, Luke, in Las Vegas (yes, that's my hometown)
I ran a half marathon with my dad! (+ 2 uncles and a cousin, too)
Here's the runners' cheer squad- the WHOLE family in sunny San Diego
We visited Legoland (talk about some serious creativity!)
But the BEST part about the end of 2013 was sparking the interest of a young and talented new tangler, my cousin Piper:
She's 12...and she's AMAZING.
I hope all of you have a fabulous new week, month, and year! Can't wait to see all the creative things you come up with in 2014
